The Rise of the Professionals
The Engineers' Creed. As a member of an honorable and learned profession, I dedicate my professional knowledge and skill to the advancement and betterment of human welfare; to give the utmost of performance; to participate in none but honest enterprise; to live and work according to the laws of man and the highest standards of professional conduct; to place service before profit, the honor and standing of the profession before personal advantage, and the public welfare above all other considerations. In humility, and with the need for divine guidance, these things I pledge.
Greedy, corrupt, and/or power-hungry politicians and bureaucrats have made a mess of our country. Now is the time for the professionals among us to rise and take charge.
This is a clarion call for professionals to get involved in politics and straighten out the mess. Now, more than ever, we need professionals to step forward who will place the welfare of the people and our nation ahead of themselves and political party agendas.
Professionalism is an attitude, so anyone can be a professional. A professional will have a strong work ethic; will place service above self; and will work to improve, not destroy.
It is time to end the battle for power, control, and domination. It is time to put the people, and our nation, first!
