“The true wealth of a nation lies in the skills, abilities, and work ethic of its people.” – Roger Thoney
A key part of our strategy to defeat the socialist movement in the United States and restore liberty is to start a new faction within the Republican Party – the Jefferson Republicans. A Jefferson Republican will (1) put the people first, ahead of self and party; (2) stand up for individual liberty and economic freedom; and (3) live up to the Constitution of the United States.
A Jefferson Republican will, above all else, “put the people first” with a particular emphasis on the real-world budget concerns of those who struggle to make ends meet. A Jefferson Republican will focus on implementing policies that will work to reduce the cost of living (control inflation) and create more jobs to provide opportunity for people to improve their situation in life. Inflation is Public Enemy #1 to working men and women and those without jobs.
The philosophical basis for a Jefferson Republican is that individuals should be free to live their lives and make their own decisions, bearing the consequences of their actions, but that society may provide a helping hand to those who need it out of a humanitarian concern for the welfare of all. We are human beings first.
The policies that underlie “putting the people first” are not rooted in any particular ideology; but in a practical, problem-solving-oriented, nuts and bolts understanding of business and economics with a focus on reducing the cost of living and creating more jobs. However, they are consistent with the conservative ideology of less government involvement in our lives – less government spending, lower taxes, less costly regulation, and less costly litigation. Government is a source of great inefficiency in our economy, leading to higher prices, higher unemployment, and more human suffering.
Thomas Jefferson was a “powerful advocate of liberty;” opposed a “strong centralized Government;” and “championed the rights of states” (“Biography of Thomas Jefferson,” The White House, About the White House, Presidents, http://www.whitehouse.gov/about/presidents/thomasjefferson). He advocated educating the public (“Quotations on Education,” Jefferson Encyclopedia, http://wiki.monticello.org/mediawiki/index.php/Quotations_on_Education) and looked with disdain upon government spending and the redistribution of wealth as reflected in the following quotations:
"if we can but prevent the government from wasting the labours of the people, under the pretence of taking care of them, they must become happy." [Thomas Jefferson to Thomas Cooper, 29 November 1802 (“Wasting the labours of the people (Quotation),” Jefferson Encyclopedia, http://wiki.monticello.org/mediawiki/index.php/Wasting_the_labours_of_the_people_%28Quotation%29)].
"To take from one, because it is thought that his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, ‘the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry, & the fruits acquired by it.'" {Jefferson’s comment in a prospectus for his translation of Destutt de Tracy’s Treatise on Political Economy [“The democracy will cease to exist…(Quotation),” Jefferson Encyclopedia, http://wiki.monticello.org/mediawiki/index.php/The_democracy_will_cease_to_exist...%28Quotation%29]}.
Today’s Democratic Party has abandoned its Jeffersonian roots, opting for the power, control, and domination characteristic of Karl Marx’ communism instead. Marxist Democrats promote policies that erode individual liberty through excessive taxation, regulation, and litigation. They promote an ever-expanding federal government and subvert states’ rights and usurp power with federal welfare and other federal spending programs. They now openly promote wealth redistribution, or “returning wealth to its rightful owners” as President Obama states it.
The Democratic Party’s abandonment of its Jeffersonian roots presents an opportunity to Republicans to transplant them into the Republican Party, uniting the ideals of Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, and Ronald Reagan within one political party – a party of the people, a party of individual liberty and economic freedom. The Jefferson Republican faction will be the vehicle to make this opportunity a reality.
A Jefferson Republican can be positioned to appeal to libertarians, those in the Constitution Party, conservative Democrats and Republicans, traditionally-Democratic-voting working men and women, those who struggle to make ends meet, and those without jobs by “putting the people first” and stressing economic opportunity and individual liberty. Voters’ pocketbooks, economic opportunity, and individual liberty will triumph as issues over tyrannical government control and propaganda-fed claims of racism, sexism, hatred, and greed, if voters are clearly presented with the choice backed by free-market-based solutions! The stage is set for a major political shift in the United States; and the Jefferson Republicans can help make that shift happen.
Socialists and communists have transformed the Democratic Party into the “Party of Karl Marx;” and the Jefferson Republicans will provide an appealing home within the Republican Party for Democratic elected officials and candidates who no longer want to deal with the Marxist socialists/communists in their party to win primary elections. If enough Blue Dog Democrats decide to leave the “Party of Karl Marx” to become Jefferson Republicans, then Republicans can take control of the House and Senate and put an end to the tyranny of the socialists/communists currently in power.
Thomas Jefferson once said that “the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time;” and now is one of those times. The political battle in the United States today is between freedom and socialism/communism, or liberty vs. the tyrannical control and domination of an increasingly powerful central government. We find ourselves faced with both a civil war and a revolutionary war. We must take back our liberty from our own government.
