A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
I support the Second Amendment and will do whatever I can to protect the right of the people to own guns. I believe that a person has a right to carry a gun subject to the property rights of others.
Our Constitution and Bill of Rights were established, and are defended, with blood. We should not be so quick to give up any of our rights, and we must be particularly wary of giving up our rights in exchange for security. I believe in the maxim, "Don't give up your rights for security because you will wind up with neither one."
Gun-control laws control only law-abiding citizens. We cannot rely upon them to protect us from law-breakers.
I do not believe that we should restrict the gun rights of law-abiding citizens because of a few who abuse their rights. We should strongly penalize violators rather than restrict the rights of responsible, law-abiding citizens.
