 Attitudes, Beliefs, and Values

Attitudes, Beliefs, and Values

“We are at a critical point in our nation’s history.  Each of us must take a close look at our attitudes, beliefs, and values and decide whether we want to be free or live as slaves of a socialist/communist government.” – Roger Thoney

I am a Jefferson Republican, so my attitudes, beliefs, and values are similar to those of Thomas Jefferson and the founding fathers, John F. Kennedy, and Ronald Reagan.

I believe in the principle of “putting the people first ahead of self and party.”

I believe that we should strive to provide equal opportunity for all to succeed, but not equal outcomes.

I believe in and support individual liberty and economic freedom and will champion the cause of liberty against the tyrannical forces of socialism and communism.

I believe that individual liberty and economic freedom are best served by a de-centralized government power structure.  Power must be shifted from the federal government to the states and from the states to local governments where we the people have more influence over our elected officials.

I believe that we, as free individuals, should be able to decide how we live our lives without “nanny-state” lawmakers and government bureaucrats trying to force us to do that which they think is best for us.

I believe that the acts of government bodies should be constrained by the constitutions of the United States and the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

I recognize that our Constitution grants rights to individuals, not groups.  No person has more or fewer rights than anyone else because of sexual orientation, race, sex, or status as a member of a minority group.

I believe that “the government that governs least governs best.”

I believe that all government budgets – federal, state, and local – should be balanced.

I believe that the private sector is inherently more efficient and effective than government bureaucrats and that we should rely upon the private sector to satisfy most of our needs.

I believe that life begins at conception and that one’s right to life begins then, too.

I believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman.

I believe that the family is the central unit in our society and that we should protect the family from intrusion by government.

I believe that a child’s need and right to see either parent at any reasonable time takes precedence over court-ordered visitation schedules.

I believe that we should provide a helping hand but not a handout to those in need out of a humanitarian concern for our fellow man.
